Fiction

The Franchise by Thomas Elrod

Thomas Elrod’s novel combines fantasy, reality TV and artificial intelligence in this novel following characters who don’t know they only exist in a production studio’s simulated reality based on a fantasy book series. When one of “The Malicarn” human actors becomes disillusioned with the studio’s control over the show’s world and its people, he resolves to help them even if that means sharing the truth that their reality is not actually real, and neither are they. Recommended for adults interested in “The Truman Show” and “The Matrix.”
