Yonder Brunch & Vibes serves homestyle options from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. With the beginning of Youngstown State University’s fall semester, the restaurant hopes to attract more students by expanding its operational hours in the future, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Yonder Brunch & Vibes was first founded in Cleveland in 2020 and is a breakfast and brunch restaurant.
The Youngstown location, in the Erie Terminal Building, replaced the Kitchen Post when it opened in May. It’s also the business’s first location away from Cleveland.
Christian J, chief operating manager of Yonder Brunch & Vibes said the company chose Youngstown due to the market the city provides.
“This location was perfect because it has two kitchens. It’s a good location, right in the middle of YSU. We get a lot of support from the city and the courthouses,” J said.
J said there aren’t many restaurants in the area that have a homestyle diner feel. He has been looking to expand into the Youngstown market for a while.
“We revisited this [area] last summer and decided it’s a great market. We did our research, looked around and saw what other venues and restaurants were offering — what we could offer — and we really didn’t find anybody that could compete,” J said.
The Youngstown location specializes in scratch-made breakfast and brunch options including french toast, waffles and sandwiches as well as cocktails and fruit tea. J said the restaurant’s most popular menu item is the chicken and waffles.
J said Yonder Brunch & Vibes is a family restaurant, appealing to people from all walks of life.
“We definitely don’t want the club or lounge vibes. We want you to be able to come in, hang out with your family or friends, or if you’re by yourself, get yourself a nice meal or one of our signature cocktails,” J said.
When they establish the new hours, Yonder will also provide a new soul food menu, similar to Cleveland’s. J said the restaurant plans to offer Southern-style food for dinner throughout the day.
The new menu will include greens, macaroni and some other Southern dishes like fried fish.
With a variety of breakfast options and restaurants in the Youngstown area, J said Yonder Brunch & Vibes strives to give customers the impression of a home-cooked meal.
“We just want to give that homestyle cooking so you can feel at home and more relaxed. It’s a place to chill out, relax and catch a vibe,” J said.
