The Youngstown State University College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math hosted its fall 2025 STEM Expo on Oct. 2 inside Stambaugh Stadium. The event was sponsored by Dearing Compressor, Butech Bliss, Howmet Aerospace and Steel Equipment Specialists LLC.

First held in 2014, the STEM Expo offers students a preview of various corporations and organizations to learn employment opportunities.

Over 100 companies registered for the event, including Powered Aire Inc., Eclipse Co., CTL Engineering and JMW Site Design, among others. These companies featured tablings where interested students could learn more about the companies, workplace training and higher education requirements from employers.

Companies arrived at 8 a.m. for setup and a brunch for all attendees was held between 10-11:30 a.m. Wim Steelant, dean of the College of STEM, gave opening remarks at 11 a.m., and the expo itself was held from noon until 4 p.m.

In a statement released by YSU, Sherri Hrusovski, executive director of STEM Professional Services, said the STEM Expo helps students to network with potential employers.

“The STEM Expo is one of our signature events each fall and spring semester, and it plays a crucial role in connecting students and alumni with employers,” Hrusovski stated. “It’s a valuable opportunity for students and alumni to gain insight into their chosen fields and for employers to meet top talent from YSU.”

Several package deals were included with the reservation of a space at the STEM Expo. For the private sector and corporations, two representatives were given a display table, along with student volunteer aid and included parking for a registration cost of $800.

Nonprofit and government sectors were offered the same package, along with free brunch and lunch, for a registration cost of $500. Other registration options included the standard registration for government, corporation, private and nonprofit sectors for $450.

STEM Expo sponsorship packages that ranged from $2,000 to $3,000 were also available to employers looking to expand its brand.

For students unable to attend the STEM Expo, a spring expo is set for Feb. 26, 2026 in Stambaugh Stadium.
