Trevor Parks, director of sports information, has made comment on the hiring of Bo Pelini as YSU’s next head football coach. Though Pelini’s hire has not been officially announced, Parks expressed certainty that Pelini will be hired.

Joe Scalzo, Vindicator sports writer, and Dana Balash, WFMJ sports reporter, have both reported that Bo Pelini, former head football coach at Nebraska, is set to accept the position of Head coach at YSU.

Bo Pelini has officially been announced YSU’s seventh Head coach.
Pelini spoke with YSU athletics about the new position, which he will assume December 17.
“It is with great passion and enthusiasm that I become the Head Football Coach at Youngstown State University.” Pelini said. “This is an exciting time for my family and me as we return to the Mahoning Valley. Mary Pat and our children are anxious to get involved in the Youngstown State and local communities. I am looking forward to getting to know a tremendous group of football student-athletes who are currently part of the program. YSU football has a rich championship tradition and a standard of excellence which our staff and players will work to uphold both on and off of the field.”
Pelini has coached for 21 years.
