The all-female rock band Persephone’s Choice released its self-titled EP in March 2025. With a run time of 26 minutes, the band describes its sound as a blend of ‘70’s nostalgia and modern rock.’
Based in Tampa, Florida, Persephone’s Choice is composed of singer Courtney Bradley, bassist Mac Bassham and drummer Dom Montanez.
Initially formed in 2023, the band included different members from the current band. In 2024, Bradley met Bassham and Montanez and stated they’ve been “stuck by each other’s side ever since.”
After the group’s formation, Persephone’s Choice released its debut singles “Hold Me Down” and “Waterfall,” the latter of which has surpassed over 13,000 Spotify streams. Its next single, titled “Demons,” was released in 2024.
In November 2024, Persephone’s Choice competed in and won the Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands, hosted by the Tampa Hard Rock Cafe. The win awarded the band a spot at the 97X Next Big Thing festival, located at The BayCare Sound in Clearwater, Florida.
There, Persephone’s Choice played alongside famous artists such as The All-American Rejects, Dayglow, Gigi Perez and Judah and the Lion.
“It was such a surreal experience playing on a stage that big, especially since we were used to playing in smaller clubs or dive bars. Everyone there was incredibly supportive, and it was one of the most memorable shows of our career so far,” Bradley stated.
The band’s self-titled rock EP features six songs, opening with “Hard Headed Heavy Hearted” and concluding with “On My Own.” Bradley stated that the EP was the band’s first opportunity to showcase a collection of its music, with rerecorded versions of past singles as well.
“Our self-titled EP was such a monumental release for us. It was our first time releasing a full collection of work rather than focusing on one single at a time. Our EP release show that we booked was also our first-ever completely DIY booking with an all-female fronted lineup,” Bradley stated.
The band members designate Persephone’s Choice as a “DIY” band, as it is not signed by a label. Bradley described the band’s independence as a rewarding experience that taught her a lot about the music industry.
“Being a ‘DIY band’ has taught us so much about how to book our own shows, make connections and write, record, release and promote our own music. Being able to have full control of our artistic expression has been such a rewarding journey so far, and the support from our local scene is what makes it all possible,” Bradley stated.
This year, Bradley stated that the band is focusing on writing more music and booking new shows.
“We’re currently in the process of recording some new songs that will be released later this year, which we’re really looking forward to. It’s so crazy for us to see our continued growth with each passing year, and we are excited to see what this next era has in store for us. We’re not stopping anytime soon,” Bradley stated.
