By the Second Spring by Danielle Leavitt | Leavitt’s account of the Russo-Ukrainian war showcases the lives of a handful of Ukrainian people across the country. She writes about her subjects with respect and dignity, using their personal experiences to reach the reader. Leavitt’s unique approach to reporting the conflict combines with her work as a historian to create an accurate but heartfelt picture of  the effects of war. Recommended for readers interested in Eastern European history.

You Between the Lines by Katie Naymon | Leigh has been fighting imposter syndrome since high school when her crush critiqued her poetry, but years later, she’s determined to prove herself in her first year in a well-respected MFA program. But Leigh is shaken when her old crush shows up in the same  program, and to make matters worse, they are both competing for a writing fellowship. Recommended for fans of Taylor Swift and romantic comedies.
