Homecoming weekend is coming to Youngstown State University and includes three days of events from Oct. 23-25 for students and the Youngstown community.

The homecoming theme this year is “Limited Edition,” which celebrates what makes everyone one of a kind. Homecoming festivities kick off Oct. 23 with Fall Fire Fest from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Daniel H. Becker Family Fountain Commons.

At the event, attendees can enjoy live music from Negative Zen and Nineteenth Paradise, in addition to a pep rally with the YSU Marching Pride, homecoming court and student-athletes. This event is free and open to the public.

There will also be fall activities hosted by student organizations and food from AVI Foodsystems.

In addition to Fall Fire Fest, the Red and White Day Carnival will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 on Lincoln Avenue near Fifth Avenue. YSU students can enjoy carnival games, prizes, rides, inflatables and carnival treats. All students who attend will have the chance to win a YSU Red Frigidaire Compact Refrigerator.

The Hoco 2025 Concert by the Fountain will also take place Friday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Students can listen to live music by No Funk No Justice at the fountain commons.

For events off campus, Penguin City Brewing Co. will host the Silent Disco Dance Party from 7-10 p.m. Every student must bring a valid student ID. Attendees will be provided with wireless headphones to control the music they dance to individually.

For the third day, the homecoming parade will kick off at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 25. The parade will march around Youngstown, featuring a performance from the marching band and floats from the community.

Community and student organizations are invited to join the parade and must sign up online by Oct. 22.

Following the parade, the YSU football team will take on Murray State University, with kick off set for 2 p.m. At halftime, Student Activities will crown this year’s homecoming royalty.

There are 10 members of the YSU Homecoming Court who have the chance to be crowned homecoming royalty.
