Singer-songwriter Bethany Froelich released back-to-back singles titled “Little Me” and “Play Parade” in May 2025. These songs explore a new musical chapter she is embarking on.
Froelich, based in Youngstown, graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in music. Forelich is currently enrolled in an online program through Berklee College of Music, where she is obtaining a master’s degree in songwriting.
Froelich said that she has a deep connection to music. She grew up singing, but she only started writing at the end of her undergraduate studies in 2023.
“Music was the only thing that I found joy in life. I didn’t want to ever pursue anything that I didn’t enjoy, and so music was it. I started singing on stage at nine, but music has been something that’s been a part of my life since I could talk. So life without it, I have no idea,” Froelich said.
Most of Froelich’s experience comes from her role as a worship leader at North Mar Church in Warren. She said that it has helped her gain confidence when performing.
“That was a really big starter for me in finding my voice,” Froelich said. “It’s grown in my faith, my songwriting and my music in general.”
So far, Froelich has released seven singles. Her music is in the realm of indie pop and folk, with a focus on storytelling.
“I always compare my lyrics to Alec Benjamin. He’s super deep in storytelling, and I tend to get that way. I’m just a little bit more introspective with my lyrics. Kind of like, late-night bops for overthinkers and soft-spoken screamers is my thing,” Froelich said.
Froelich’s 2025 singles were actually created as assignments for her master’s program at Berklee. Her single “Little Me” reflects her childhood self and where she is now.
“When I wrote [‘Little Me’], it was that realization that if I looked back at little me, and I just said, ‘Hey listen, you can do it. You are capable, and you have no idea where you’re going to be when you’re 23 and it’s going to be really cool,’” Froelich said.
Froelich said her second single, “Play Parade,” unintentionally connected with “Little Me.”
“It’s whimsical and attached to being connected to the inner child, and just having fun. Maybe it doesn’t make sense storytelling, but it does make sense if you really look at the lyrics. Just having a little bit of fun and not taking life too seriously,” Froelich said.
Froelich said she is currently finishing a big project, with more details coming later this year.
