Classes at Youngstown State University will be canceled Wednesday and Thursday due to forecasted frigid temperatures. The university will remain open.
President Jim Tressel made this decision to cancel classes.
“Non-essential employees are expected to report to work unless they use unscheduled leave. Essential employees should still report to work, unless otherwise notified,” according to a YSU Penguin Alert.
The high temperature is expected to be zero degrees Fahrenheit with wind chill values as low as -27 degrees.
A petition was made on change.org for President Tressel to cancel classes Wednesday. The petition was signed by 3,106 people.
The following locations will be closed on Wednesday:
- Fok Hall, the Honors College
- Cushwa Hall computer lab
This list will be updated as other buildings and locations on campus close.
