The Youngstown Press Club honored current and former journalists within the Mahoning Valley at its fifth annual Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner at 5 p.m. Sept. 24 in Stambaugh Auditorium.
Five people were inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame, and three others received the club’s Excellence in Media Award. Three Youngstown State University students, including Nicarlyle Hanchard, Aicha Sawaneh and Emily Wilaj, were awarded three $4,000 scholarships at the event.
For the Hall of Fame ceremony, the following members were inducted:
- Marie Cartwright, former vice president of corporate communications for The DeBartolo Corporation
- The late Paul Jagnow, managing editor for news at The Vindicator
- The late John Nagy, WKBN radio’s news director
- Tony Paglia, former senior regional editor at The Vindicator
- Lisa Solley, former managing editor at the Tribune Chronicle
Recipients of the Excellence in Media Award were Sydney Canty, WFMJ-TV reporter and news anchor, Chelsea Simeon, digital executive producer at WKBN-TV and WYTV and Margie Lenhart, on-air morning show talent on Willie 95.1 radio.
The YPC also awarded Peter Milliken, a former reporter for The Vindicator, the club’s Medal of Merit.
